Being directed by Guy Ritchie, It's a period war film with heist movie vibes.

It's very nice to see war conducted in a dignified way with proper manners, nothing more entertaining in film than to see a politely delivered hail of lead. It's all very slick and when the action starts it's getting done, it's great to watch.

Gus and his team must disrupt the nazi supply operation on the island of Fernando Po. in an off the books mission during World War 2.

Things go wrong. There are twists and turns. There's some decent set pieces and plenty of glorified violence. Imagine a Tarantino-esque take on an English spy / war movie.

I absolutely loved the dialogue in this film, it's very quotable and once it's been around a while I reckon you'll hear people referencing it.

At no time did I feel that the goodies were in any peril, this does leave you with the feeling there are no stakes but it also helps depict the English team as formidable. It leaves you to relax and enjoy the various military assaults as it were.

Ian Fleming is in this film, apparently, Gus is who James Bond is based on. So this film has Henry Cavill, playing the guy Bond was based on. Sadly, that's probably the closest we're ever gonna get to Cavill actually playing Bond. Luckily, we do get to briefly glimpse what that might be like in this movie.

If you delight in seeing the Hun dispatched efficiently, enjoy a bit of grammatically correct, civilised war or just like to settle in for a fun couple of hours then you'll enjoy this flick! Tally Ho!
