There's a device used in film called a 'ticking clock' and if you've never heard of it before you'll almost certainly recognise it. It's where a character must achieve X before Y or Z will happen. A simple example you'll no doubt be familiar with is a bomb. Stop the timer counting down before it reaches zero or it will explode and the characters will die. It drives the viewer to watch more intently and the tension rises until the problem is either solved or they fail. This movie is a very good example of this device.

Chev Chelios has been injected with a cocktail of drugs which will kill him unless he constantly stimulates his adrenaline. He must put his affairs in order and get revenge on Ricky Verona in 1 hour.

His girlfriend doesn't know he's a hit man which provides for some humorous moments as Chev tries to deal with incoming assassins without her finding out.

There's plenty of satirical, dark humour, so leave your stoicism at the door and be ready for a laugh. It's highly stylised. Lots of shaky cam shots which add a documentary feel and because Chev only has 1 hour, events occur in almost real time. If you've played GTA 5, it feels a bit like one of the more crazy missions. It's a bit exhausting as Chev doesn't find many opportunities for respite during his adventure.

I recommend putting your metaphorical safety helmet on for this one.

If you don't like the tension of mortal danger or you're squeamish about pounding heart noises then you probably won't enjoy this film but if you want a crazy experience in a hyper real world and you've got an hour and a half to spare then strap yourself into the couch and ready your suspension of disbelief for an experience you probably won't forget in a hurry!

PS: Shout out to the phone ringtone in this film!
